Transformation of Howlong Industrial Precinct a game-changer for Howlong
The Howlong Industrial & Export Precinct (HIEP) project – made possible today by the Building Better Regions Fund grant from the Australian Government – will release unprecedented investment in the Howlong area, create 60 local jobs and help to take Staughton Group’s premium Australian pet food to new markets.
The HIEP project includes the development of freight and logistics capability, which will make Howlong a gateway for regional businesses to export to new domestic and international markets. The redevelopment will include:
- 16 new sites in the Howlong Industrial Estate
- dry warehousing export facility
- frozen ingredients export facility
- transportation depot and truck maintenance facility
- development of a new office complex, roadways, carparks and infrastructure
- new engineering warehouse facility
“Today’s announcement that the Howlong Industrial & Export Precinct project will proceed with support from the Australian Government is a game-changer for Howlong and the regional economy”, said Staughton Group’s Managing Director Edward Staughton.
“Our local businesses are attracting global attention but need the space and infrastructure to grow. This grant makes it possible for the Howlong Industrial & Export Precinct project to undertake that much needed redevelopment. ”
“We are very grateful to the Australian Government, the Federation Council and our partners for their commitment to this project which will mean more jobs and better roads for Howlong and will help our regional economy to grow.”
“For Staughton Group, the expansion of supply chain infrastructure will help us to cement Howlong’s position as an international export hub for pet food.”
From Cool Off to Staughton Group – local Howlong pet food company restructures as it prepares to take product to the world
Specialising in the manufacturing of pet food and ingredients for export markets, Staughton Group comprises four key businesses; Cool Off, Dried and True, Vets All Natural and Cool Off Systems and two strategic partners; VK Logic and Killens Trucking.
To bring this diverse but critically integrated group together, Staughton Group has been created to bring all of these entities under the one umbrella organisation. This will provide a premium end-to-end service for Australian food ingredients to be supplied to national and international customers, including those amongst the biggest names in the global pet food industry. The creation of Staughton Group streamlines the companies’ offerings, shows strength and unity within the business and will be a source of pride for the local community.
Staughton Group is a world-class, award winning manufacturer of food ingredients and was also recognised as NSW regional exporter of the year in 2016. This is but one of many achievements the company has achieved during its significant growth period over the last 10 years.
